Indoor Surveillance Systems

A safe home for your family is still the best thing you can give to them. Putting all the preventive measures at your home lessens the chance of being attacked or crashed by a thief, or any type of intruder. So if you don’t have one, start setting up a basic indoor security system at your place, because your loved one’s safety is something you must not take for granted.

Yes, there are security alarms, smoke detectors, and sensors. These are precious devices. But still, the most reliable indoor security system is the one that gives you the ability to see the different parts of your locality. Perhaps the ‘camera’ may be the simplest root term for this.

Pros: But indoor security systems are not just for anti-intruder measures. Indoor surveillance can also inform you in real time on what is going on when you are not at home. It is especially helpful for keeping an eye on helpers in charge of kids or aged people who are unable to take care of themselves. Indoor surveillance gives you all the eyes you need in order to simultaneously see multiple areas in your homes, for basic monitoring, to advanced security measures.

Cons: Many people view them as an invasion of personal privacy. This is a valid concern due to the hidden nature of the cameras themselves, and because it is virtually impossible to determine when they are being used inappropriately.

Components

To set-up an indoor security system, you are going to need several devices that will work interdependently to achieve the level of security you need for your homes. The Camera—Its task is to collect reflected images from objects in the environment and then to convert them into electronic signals. The Signal Transmission Media—it’s main purpose is to transmit signals collected by the camera to other types of equipment that will further process them to finally allow them to be viewed directly on the screen. The Monitors—these devices are used to view the images collected by the camera. Lastly, the Video Recording Systems—this is for data (the video captured) storage. Some folks treat these as optional tools, but hey, storing captured images is one heck of a rule of thumb in security systems!

Brands

Some leading brands that dominate the security systems devices market are Philips, Sony and Panasonic.

Prices

Home monitoring systems have a monthly fee of $25 to $35 for maintenance purposes. Equipment warranties may $5 to $10 to monthly cost. The main equipment may vary from $350 to $3,000. These prices depend on the brand, the quality, and the extended features included in the system.

Some Tips:

  • When planning to set-up an indoor security system, make sure that you know what you will buy.
  • Carefully list down all the things or devices you need.
  • Study all specific locations in your area and try to find the most suitable type of peripherals for it.
  • Always compare prices by weighing different brands by listing down extended features and product backgrounds. Consult an expert to help you make better decisions.
