Photo Electronic Sensors

Photo electronic sensors were made to detect objects through the use of light. These sensors have the longest sensing ranges amongst sensors today. They come in many different shapes and sizes and have the capability of viewing in wide, short or long distances. Most sensors are top notch and yet they're known to be a low cost alternative. Prices generally range from $30 to $200.00. You may choose either a cable connection or a plug connection when buying this sensor and they even make mini ones to reach into small spots most sensors can’t fit in.

Regardless of which one you pick there are two main parts to this sensor; a focused light source, which is usually a laser beam, and a light sensor. So it’s pretty basic, and it’s the exact same sensor used in that one movie with Catherine Zita-Jones when she’s anything but a petty thief. Dang, I wish I could remember the name of that one. Anyhow, when positioned and used correctly, all it takes is for someone to pass through the light beam and block the beam from reaching the sensor. Immediately the alarm would be triggered and you would be notified someone is violating your privacy.

Banner Engineering Corp. has launched a new level of these sensors which offer high-performance, compact design and versatile mounting options. The World-beam Q20 sensors have a bunch of modes and models, including opposed (10 and 15m), polarised (4m) and non-polarised (6m), retroreflective, and diffuse (250, 800 and 1500mm) models. The sensors feature either a visible red sensing beam for easy alignment, or an infrared sensing beam. All of their models feature a bright LED indicator for 360° visibility of operating status so if you’re interested in this type of sensor start with this one. Consumers worldwide already know what I'm talking about.
